One of the most common questions I get, especially from first-timers or cautious clients, is:
“What’s the safest piercing to get?”

I love that you’re thinking about safety! I take a safety-first, education-based approach to every service I offer. That starts with understanding what makes a piercing “safe” to begin with.

Let’s dive into it.

🧪 What Is a “Safe” Piercing?

A safe piercing is one that is:

  • Placed correctly for your anatomy
  • Performed with sterile tools and techniques
  • Pierced with high-quality jewelry made from biocompatible materials
  • Easy to keep clean and avoid trauma during healing
  • Done by a skilled professional who follows Association of Professional Piercers (APP) standards

The good news? When you’re working with a professional piercer, any piercing can be safe if all of the above boxes are checked.

🏆 Safest Piercings for Most People

If we’re talking generally, here are a few of the lowest-risk piercings in terms of healing and complications:

🔹 Earlobes

  • Heal quickly (usually 8-12 weeks)
  • Minimal movement or pressure during healing
  • Great for first-timers

🔹 Nostril

  • Straightforward to clean
  • Usually adapts well if anatomy allows
  • Visible enough that you’ll remember to take care of it!

🔹 Septum

  • When placed correctly in the “sweet spot,” it heals fast
  • No cartilage trauma
  • Super easy to hide if needed (just flip it up)

⚠️ What Makes a Piercing Riskier?

Some piercings carry more risk due to:

  • Movement or friction (navel, surface, nipple)
  • Longer healing times (cartilage or nostril)
  • Limited anatomy (industrial, rook, or navel)
  • Client lifestyle (athletes, people in healthcare, or anyone wearing uniforms/equipment)

That’s not to say you shouldn’t get these piercings . It just means I’ll want to have a conversation first. I’ll personally do an anatomy check and talk through your lifestyle to make sure the piercing fits you, not just the trend.

🧬 Anatomy Always Comes First

I won’t pierce something that doesn’t make sense for your anatomy or healing ability. Safe piercing isn’t about saying yes to everything. It’s about saying yes to the right thing. That’s why every service starts with a thorough consultation.

🛡️ My Commitment to Your Safety

All piercings I perform are done with:

  • Sterile, single-use needles
  • ASTM F-136 titanium, solid gold, or glass jewelry
  • Hospital-grade sanitation protocols
  • In a private room with client comfort in mind
