Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending another incredible seminar—“Ear Projects and Custom Bending”—taught by the one and only Luis Garcia at Black Lotus Tattoo Gallery in Hanover, Maryland. This marks my fourth seminar at Black Lotus, and I want to extend a huge thank you to Matt Buonantuono and the entire Black Lotus team for continuing to provide such a welcoming and professional space for piercers to learn and grow.

Luis never disappoints when it comes to education, and this seminar was no exception. We dove into the intricate world of ear anatomy, multi-piercing projects, and the art of custom bending jewelry to complement complex layouts. From curated ears to freehand strategy, there was something to walk away with whether you were just getting started or a seasoned professional.

It was also a great day for connecting with fellow piercers. I caught up with APP volunteer Sydney, earned some solid Wobbly Sausage points (if you know, you know), and enjoyed conversations with piercers I’ve met through previous events. I even met a few new faces—always inspiring to see passionate professionals excited to elevate their craft.

Networking with others in the field, sharing experiences, and learning new techniques always reignites my drive—not just as a piercer, but as an advocate for safe, intentional work. Every time I attend seminars like this, I gain insights I can bring back to my studio and clients on Staten Island. Continuing education is a cornerstone of responsible piercing, and I’m grateful to be in a position to keep learning and improving.

Looking forward to more opportunities like this in the future—and to seeing the positive impact this knowledge will have on the work I do at Bound for Glory Tattoo.
